” Rahul Gandhi had an interaction with Congress MLAs from different states. It was decided that we will go to other states and interact with the people. This process has started in West Bengal. We will be going to other states as well,” said Sudhir Sharma, Congress MLA from Himachal Pradesh’s Bainath assembly seat.

Sharma is touring the Tamluk parliamentary seat held by Trinamool leader Subhendu Adhikary. On Wednesday, Sharma toured the Tamluk and Mahishadal segments. “Once this is over, youth rallies will be held in the state. Rahul Gandhi may also come to Bengal during then,” said Sharma.

The MLAs are also making a note of the Congress organisational strength.

Internationally-renowned paragliding pilot from Russia, Shorokov Nikolay informed the Times Of India that due to the natural setting at a height about 2230 metres and proper air-pressure adjustment with open space for flying, the area would be the first choice of international paragliding pilots throughout the world.

He is also director of the technical part of this event. “India is beautiful and I always dream of flying from this well-known place,” said a participant pilot from Russia. He added that his first visit to Billing would always remain memorable.

Deputy director of Tourism Department of Himachal Pradesh Government, Manoj Kumar and organising secretary of this para-gliding Himalayan Cup 2006 informed TOI that there are in total 57 participants from Russia, Ukraine, Spain, Poland and India. He said that all necessary arrangements for successful completion of the championship have been made. “Three ambulances and a team of doctors are available for any possible casualty and an arrangement of helicopter services has also been made for immediate use.” He said that under the chairmanship of Kangra deputy commissioner, a committee has been setup to ensure the smooth conduct of the championship. A control room has also been setup at Bir Billing to obtain latest information. Kumar did say that Himachali participants are exempted from a participation fee, while other pilots are paying 230 Euros per person for this championship. He also added that the winners of the Paragliding Himalayan Cup 06 would be given a cash prize of Rs 10000 with a trophy for first position, second position will get Rs 8000 with a trophy and third will get Rs 6000 with trophy. Other participants will get a certificate of participation and memento.

Virbhadra Singh, Chief Minister said that State Government would consider holding of entrance tests to State Ayurvedic colleges alongwith combined medical tests in the state (CPMT). He announced constitution of High Power Committee to look into the functioning of Ayurveda department and asked to submit report within two months. He was addressing the State Level Convention of Himachal Pradesh Ayurvedic Medical Officers Association at Baijnath in district Kangra today.

Rajiv Gandhi Post-Graduate Ayurvedic College to be developed as Centre of Par Excellence.

Chief Minister said that Rajiv Gandhi Government Post Graduate Ayurvedic College was being developed as a Centre of Par Excellence in the country where best and latest infrastructural facilities were being created to facilitate quality education, research and higher studies in the discipline. He said that a new hospital complex was coming up fast in the premises to admit indoor patients and also to facilitate the research work in the subject. He said that top professional teachers would be engaged to teach at Paprola College.

Sudhir Sharma, MLA welcomed Chief Minister and thanked him for taking over the local degree college under Government control which had met the long pending demand of the area. He thanked Chief Minister for giving Rajiv Gandhi Government Ayurvedic Post-Graduate College at Paprola which was emerging as a prominent Ayurvedic educational institution in the State.

Christened as ‘Disha-2004′, the rally started from the Mayor’s bungalow and ended at district collector’s office where a letter of memorandum, in context to anti ‘feel good’ issues like costly education, law and order etc., was submitted.

While addressing the media on the occasion at Mayor’s bungalow, Sharma said, “Our agenda is to turn every Indian youth into a skilled human resource so that we can compete at a global level. This we have termed as Disha-2004.”

“We want more youth to get involved in our party’s activities. Leaders are travelling all across the nation to identify the potential youth activists. We will provide needful guidance to these chosen ones,” he added. Speaking on the need to appeal the young, Sharma said, “Drastic restructuring is required in the Indian education system and stable, harmonious environment is the need of the hour. Young blood, if guided in right direction, can be an absolute force in achieving the same. We therefore appeal the youth to join this drive.”

When asked about the opposition’s claim that the party lacked a second genre leadership, Sharma said, “It’s a misfortune that the opposition beat their drums about absence of second genre in Congress party. Presence of leaders like Jyotiraditya Schindiya and fresh arrival of Priyanka Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi has disapproved their claims.”
